The University of KwaZulu-Natal in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education and Technology (DHET), has recently completed the construction of a new postgraduate research facility in the discipline of Chemistry, School of Chemistry and Physics, Pietermaritzburg Campus, at a cost of R30 million.
The new facility is aimed at increasing postgraduate student enrolment and throughput within the School of Chemistry and Physics. The facility accommodates an additional seventy postgraduate research students, including Honours students, both in terms of laboratory and lan spaces. The building also contains seminar and meeting rooms, several instrument rooms and three staff offices.
