The Global Women’s Breakfast

The Global Women’s Breakfast is an initiative of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), that aims to assist female chemists to expand their network of contacts

The School of Chemistry & Physics organised its own breakfast event that saw over 100 women gather to for a morning of sharing stories, networking and celebrating female scientists. The event was one of many being live-streamed around the world.

School of Chemistry & Physics official lab launch

On 7 March 2018, the School of Chemistry and Physics opened two new labs on UKZN’s Westville campus. The Peptide Sciences Laboratory, and the Laser Chemical Vapour Deposition and Thin Films Laboratory were launched at the event.

Members of industry, UKZN staff and media were in attendance for the celebration

Consider studying Chemistry at UKZN

Chemistry the branch of science concerned with the substances of which matter is composed, the investigation of their properties and reactions, and the use of such reactions to form new substance.

It is often described as the central science because it touches all the other sciences.

Studying Physics at UKZN

Physics is a science that deals with matter and energy and their interactions

Listen to UKZN scientists and students discuss the field of Physics, it’s career paths and our programmes at UKZN.

Research at the School of Chemistry & Physics
